Welcome to Fete & Forage, a food blog dedicated to seasonal food, scrumptious photography, and creating a more intentional life.
At age 19, I boarded a plane with nothing more than an Eddie Bauer daypack, my passport, and an old Pentax I bought with my first paycheck at age 16. I ventured off to North Africa, by way of Rome, then moved myself to Paris, where I lived and studied for the for the next two years. In those days, I slept on an open rooftop in Santorini for $3, rode in the bridge of a freight carrier headed toward for the Turkish coast, and traveled all of Ireland for a week by bus for less than $300. Still today, I pride myself on traveling anywhere for any length of time -- full gear in tow -- in one carry-on Osprey bag. My philosophy is to travel light, live in the moment, and make friends along the way.
I'm an outgoing, creative, slightly OCD, ginger-obsessed, dog-loving, adventurous spirit. I believe in trying new things and "work hard, play hard" as the way to create the life I love.
Weekends are for hosting dinner parties, hard-core DIY projects, farmers' markets, new restaurants, and a good Moscow mule with a copy of Food & Wine or National Geographic in hand. My other self is a full-time CHILD PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER.
I was born and raised in Southeast Michigan. There's nothing like the smell of burning leaves on a crisp October day, hot donuts and cider from Three Cedars Cider Mill, the thundering waves on the Lake Michigan shore, or a tandem bike ride around Mackinac Island (followed by ice cream at Cannonball Oasis and a slab of Murdick's fudge, of course). I have a B.A. in History from the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) with coursework at the Université Paris I - Sorbonne. I live in Southeast Michigan with my 17-year-old son, my husband, and our crazy Cavachon, Pickle.
I'm a food and lifestyle photographer because I love telling visual stories. I aim to present my view of the world : interior, emotional, and intimate. I love pockets of dark, streams of warm light, rich and vibrant color, and contrast that creates a feast for the eyes.
I believe in sourcing ingredients as closely to home and as seasonably as possible. When once a strawberry was a rarity in June (and only if a whole lot of things went right), we now live in a world that offers any food within an hour's Uber Eats demand, any time of year, anywhere in the world. I'm mindful of the freshness and bounty of the seasons and I try to let Mother Nature guide the way.
I aim to cook with a sense of joie de vivre, from bountiful healthful salads, to rich roasts, to tantalizing tarte tatins.
I'm available as a food photographer / stylist, recipe developer / consultant, lifestyle writer, and brand ambassador. I look forward to hearing from you and working together soon.
